Half water half white vinegar in a spray bottle. Dampen the salt spots, scrub lightly, blot with a dry towel, repeat a few times until the spot is gone. Air the car out as much as possible so it doesn't smell like vinegar for too long.

yes, i tried that on the floor mats 3 or 4 times in the basement, still can t get rid of them, so will very hard to remove them from the carpet, need something a little more agressive it think, tried mr and mrs Clean, but to no avail.

Warm water and vinegar is the only thing I use for salt most times. Remove the excess salt with your fingers/nails before trying to blot it.
Just brush it a bit but not too much with a scrubbing brush, you don't want to make the salt go deeper, you want to dilute it.

Otherwise you can use carpet shampoo for the harder stains and let it sit a bit, but personally I've found vinegar to work just fine.

Turtle wax makes a product especially for this. It's a spray bottle that shoots foam. You let the foam sit on your stain for a minute then you brush with the plastic brush included with the bottle and then you wipe off. I've had good results so far.

I've got this problem next to my accelerator. I'll have to give this a try.

You'd also want to vacuum it as you work. Works for me everytime.

So uh... come again? Bench?

Are you sure it's a salt stain? I've never had trouble removing them with water/vinegar and a brush like I mentioned earlier. It's not instantaneous, but it works. You soak and blot until the stain disappears.

Oh, makes more sense.

Going to the groceries and renting a carpet cleaning machine would be my next step.

how about a degreaser, spray it let it sit for about like two minutes, and then brush it with some warm water with carpet soap
