SABOTAGE ON THE ASSEMBLY LINE?
WOULDN'T BE THE FIRST TIME!

There WERE acts of sabotage at the Honda plant in Marysville, Ohio 20 years ago. Starting in late 1985, the UAW wanted IN at a time when Honda's star was rising. During the first few months of 1986, workers sympathetic with the UAW's cause DID go around sabotaging cars. After 3 1/3 years and 44,000 miles, my 1st new car, an '86 Accord LX was ready for the junk yard. The dealer's district service manager let it slip and admitted the sabotage thing to me outright and that it was cause of the problems I was having. Of course later on when push came to shove they (Honda) said he denied it. Unfortunately this never hit the main stream media (imagine if the internet was around back then), but there were 100's (if not 1000's) of these bad '86 Accords put into circulation. I was however able to find a story from The Columbus Dispatch about unrest at the plant over the UAW issue and another one of how Honda put a lawyer with no prior automotive experience in charge of the plant.

My writing letters to Honda Motor Company in California and Tokyo culminated with a letter from my attorney threatening them with a lawsuit for consumer fraud, the final nail in their coffin as the assembly line vandalism evidence was overwhelming. They wound up taking the car back for full credit of the purchase price towards the car I sold 2 years ago to get my TL, a 1989 Accord SE-i Coupe, the car based on the original Accord Export Edition that Honda made in Ohio and shipped to Japan.

interesting........I doubt its the cause of our 3 gear issues. Because, ya know I remember saying this in that thread I closed, there are fixes for it!!!!!

I changed my fluid with Honda MTF.

Others changed theres to the GM..

Some Ive heard used Redline.

Either way Im happy with my results.

I mean are we going to say that every problem complained about on this site is because of sabotage???

This thread is off topic. DMZ feel free to start this over in Car Talk...
