Royal Purple for 6MT?
Currently I have the GM syncromesh in my car and my transmission has been acting up lately. As in, high rpm 1st - 2nd shifts don't go right in. They will grind. And the other day it did this, and when I stopped at the next light it would barely go into 1st. Almost didn't. But since that day it has been driving normally. On occasion it is a little tougher to shift into 1st and 2nd gear.
Normally I would say the syncros are going out, but I called acura and they said it might be the clutch. Not that the clutch disc is worn, but that something might have happened to the pressure plate therby messing up the engagment point. Or something like that. But before I go and drop a bunch of $$$ on a new clutch I wanted to rule out a sycro/tranny problem and change the fluid from the GM syncromesh to royal purple.
I contacted them and they said to use HPS10W-30 or XPR5W-30. But those are motor oils and I don't think he understood my question. So I am a little confused. Has anyone else used Royal Purple in their tranny? What did you use exactly?
BTW...I thought that the GM stuff was pretty good before. But I spoke to my friends dad, who used to be a master tech at GM for over 20years, said that it really wasn't so good and that I should change it out to something better soon.

I think it is too. But I am gonna do the fluid first. And if it is the clutch I'll just wait for it to strand me on the side of the road. Whether the clutch won't grab or won't go into gear. It still drives decent for now so I don't see the urgency. And if the clutch goes it'll be just as expensive now as it will be later to fix.
