Rough Idle on Startup

For the last several weeks, I notice the engine idles rough when starting up cold. Then after a few minutes as it warms up, it seems fine. I now have just over 200K miles.

Any thoughts folks?

I get this too, I just cleaned egr last week, I'm at 105k, maybe I need a valve adjustment. I just figured it was normal since I've had many cars that when I first turn them on in the morning basically ran like a tractor

well, we know that DMZ has had his vehicle from the beginning. I'm sure he wouldnt have started this thread if he hadnt noticed this issue before.

your issue seems to be a non-issue. as, we do have a rough idle at start up. the car throws extra fuel on the cats to help them get warmed up quicker.

I'm sure DMZ knows this and isnt likely what he's experiencing. Unless his cats are dying.

But I remember it being a lot smoother at startup.

Can you see the rpms stumbling around and jumping? Or does it just feel rough?

how old is the battery? What RPM's is the idle when you first start the car? Are you running the A/C?

Mine does that first start in the morning- could it be the oil? I use synthetic all the time 5w-30
Time to switch to 10w-30 I guess
