Roof Spoiler Problem (help)

I have a "ebay" roof spoiler I bought recently and I placed it on the rear windshield with double sided tape and after a couple days in the sun it fell right off. It does not sit perfectly on the rear windshield but was then urethane(d) carefully on the windshield after the 3m tape failed. A week in the sun, and now its coming off again. My camera is broken but took three pictures so you can get an idea. Any suggestions on how I can get this thing on permanently without worrying about it coming off would be great!! Please, any thoughts, help me out. THANKS[IMG][/IMG]

Did you prep the window prior to attaching it?

TO properly prep the surface, do this:
First clay the glass, this will remove all surface contaminations. Then clean with a mix of alcohol and water (not sure of the exact mix), then attach via tape of glue.

See I would figure this body shop would of done this already. Well I am going to try somewhere else and remind them to prep it like that. Silicone or Urethane? Which would work better on the Rear Windshield and stay even if the sun was beating on it for 2 weeks straight.

well what could have happened is, the double-sided tape left residue on the glass, which adhered to the urethane

my sarona wing is larger, and heavier, and its been urethaned to the window... its been on for two weeks now, no problems

unfortunately, its on there permanently, so i cant remove it to re-sell it when im done with the car

Lol ya I want mine on permanently too! The sun heats it up realll hot and then it loosens up. The problem the body shop said that the Ebay part does not fit properly like an OEM part, so he said it does not sit correctly as it should. Either way I thought Urethane would be permanent never budging at all no matter what. I guess I need to redo it again.

Most Autoparts stores do.. just call around. But he's right about the 3M Urethane.. that stuff is what they use to hold down windshields. Incredibly strong!!!

and make sure you clean and install on a hot day. That will help everything cure faster..

Mazekid,

Here's pictures of mine. Thanks for your PM (by the way). Again, mine is on with two layers of double sided tape and seems to be holding well so far. Yes, it has come up off the car in a couple of places, but that hasn't seemed to make any difference so far.

It's true...this JDM spoiler will not contour to the back roof of your car like an OEM spoiler would, but there in no OEM spoiler available now. I hope this helps. But don't worry about it not laying down exactly like it should. So far-so good. If you look closely at this picture, you'll see where the spoiler has "lifted" off the window on the back side.
