Hey, guys i have a 2008 TLs 5AT, the only mods that i have is Stage 1 muffler, Imo hearing this Loud noise from the engine, when i rev the car on idle. it only happen sometimes, it's like a deep screeching sound its close to the sound that you hear when ur starting the car (the cranking sound), it would only comes sometimes, like after i use it and the car on idle when i revved up the engine continuously one time it would make this loud deep screeching or its like something is rubbing? is anybody experiencing the same thing? its hard to explain, especially with my bad english... well i tried, im gonna try to record it and see if it can explains it better. the only problem is that it makes the sound sometimes, and only when im revving on idle, so i hopefully i can record it when its doing it. any respond will be greatly appreciated, cuz im worrying now?!

 

if it is a 5500 rmps it is the rev limiter

Hmmm...it was pretty high revving, i didnt notice what RPM was it, but is it normal for the rev limiter to make sounds like that?

 

Do you happen to remember what was the problem on his car? did he ever found out what it was?

 

why would the rev limiter kick in at 5500rpm when the thing doesnt redline until 6800...the rev limiter wouldnt kick in until you went past 6800, or at the earliest right at redline...not before it...

 

Yeah i think you're right, well i dont think my problem is the rev limiter, i believe its something else, i just cant replicate the sound to the dealership.
