Removing steering wheel stripped screw torx help?

i don't know if anyone have experience this problem, i need to change my steering wheel because the leather was damage by using lexol cleaner (falling apart like an old leather sofa). i need to replace it (got one from ebay), but the screws on the side are TORX 30, which i use, i was able to remove one (they are really tight) but the other one the head stripped now there's no grip. i have been fighting 2 day to get the darn screw out, even went to a few handyman to help out with no luck. how do you get this screw so tight out?

You will have to drill it out... The same thing happened to me when putting the wood steering wheel on my RL. Those airbag screws have some crazy loctite on them.

An alternative to drilling:

Sears apparently has a craftsman equivalent to the turbo socket set up. Also, other posts in that thread recommend using a 3/8" drive instead of a 1/4" drive with the Torx bit.

Using those should be much easier then drilling the screws out. Ill have to pick up a set for future use.

You use a drill bit and drill into the head of the screw till it comes off. Then the airbag will come right off and you can use pliers to take the rest of the screws out. Do it the other way though thats much easier...

Having a similar issue. Broke the head off the left side screw and have stipped the other. Power-out set also does not seem to be working (tried it with both hand and power tools).

Is drilling those screws out my only other option?
