05' original owner

recently my precious has turned into a breeding ground for gremlins
and while i've been successfully "whack-a-moling" them, this last one befuddles me

My remotes (one daily used and one stores safely from the time of purchase, with new batteries) will unlock the car from half a mile away, but won't lock it unless i'm standing right next to the front doors!
The RF module looks OK, as in nothing is visually melted or corroded in it's guts or contacts. Not sure how to test it further.

Does anyone have any thoughts?

Anyone? I know mine don't have the greatest range. Putting the remote near your head will increase it's range some.

 

My '05 remotes work from usually no more than 30-40' away from the car. This is how they have worked since I bought it back in '08. My wife's Terrain....we can be inside Home Depot and parked on the far end of the parking lot and it will remote start with no issue.
