try calling the local honda dealer Service MANAGER and ask-
the recalls are simple- power steering hose (which has been on backorder) and wiper motor replacement

I understand dealership is 300 miles away but I would prefer to still have an Acura dealership do the work. Even though Acura is basically Honda. I dunno that's just me. Although I just realized 300 miles is approx 5-6 hours drive. Um I can see why you would want to take it to Honda now.

we are talking about an external hose replacement for the power steering, book pays 1.7 to 1.9 hours-, may vary with year and difficulty reaching fittings- based on what ziners are reporting
May take tech 1.5 to 2 hours
Wiper motor is an easy 30 minutes swap out a motor, connect- test wipers- done
If this were something big, it would be worth acura doing it, bit for such basic repairs- save your gas and time,
call honda- they probably have done a few other acuras already.
In Hawaii, you have to ~ship~ your car to Oahu for any big warranty stuff, there may not even be a car dealer on the island your on!

My local Honda Dealership doesn't do any unpaid work on Acuras, the guy said Acura has been trying to work with Honda Dealerships to work this out.
They will work on Acuras here in Kalamazoo but they won't due warranty work or recalls.
So i'd probably call them first and ask.

I asked one of our ziners who IS currently an acura service writer with years at the same dealer. He says Sorry- honda does not have any agreement to do warranty work for Acura owners.
It will be smart to call the acura delaer - give your vin number to the Service MANAGER and explain the distance issue.
Make sure they can or will have the parts in hand on a certain date so you can go in and get it done. Call a day or 2 before appt and confirm the hoses are there
The other option is to buy the parts outright, have them installed locally- and pay for it yourself.
Its worth a call to acura 1-800-382-2238x5 and ask a manager to call you back.
Perhaps you can get refunded the parts price with proof of replacement install
You never know until you ask a few times!

I'm in ND and I've had 1 TSBs, and NAVI unit replacement, and now the two recalls performed by the local Honda dealer. Honda doesn't have to do it, depends on the service manager. Fortunately for me, the local Honda dealer is more than happy to accomodate. The dealership that I bought the car from in Dallas ships the parts to Honda. In the case of the NAVI unit, I had to pay the labor charge and then send the a copy of the bill to the Acura dealer for reimbursement. I didn't have to do anything for the TSB. Waiting for the parts for the two recalls, not sure if I'll have to pay the labor up front or not.

The ignitor failed on my old Integra and I paid my independent Honda/Acura mechanic to replace it, then was reimbursed for the full repair by Acura when I submitted the bill after receiving a recall notice.

Ok let me rephrase.... HONDA cannot submit warranty claims for Acuras. Man do Acuraziners love to split hairs!! I guess if you paid for the repair at Honda and then went thru to get reimbursed fom Acura that would work. If you read your recall notice it states that you must drop you car off at an Acura dealer and that the service will be performed FOC. That is the proper way to have the recall performed.

Are you surprised that people who demand accuracy and attention to detail are driving Acuras? If you work for Honda and you're surprised, that's a really bad sign.

Its ok. You are light work. Kinda like a new hobby you dont really care too much about. Funny no response pertaining to the facts of my last statement. Thats very unbecoming of you. Come on. Spin it. Maybe you can turn this thread into a circus too!! Oh wait, here, cirkus. There. Use that too.

Bottom line, I answered the OP's question. In coordination with an Acura dealer, Honda can and will honor Acura TSBs, recalls, and warranty work at no net cost to the Acura owner. There's no need to drive hundreds of miles to an Acura dealer.
If you can't add anything productive to this thread, then get lost.
