Rear-view mirror question

Well I hope this isn't too obvious but I just bought my 07 TL-S used yesterday and I'm just looking around the car and enjoying everything..love the car and i can't wait to get insurance on it to take it around.

I noticed that on the bottom of the rear-view that there is a button...what does this do?

I didn't get a car manual either!

O ya! My first post here!!!

Congrats on your new TL-S.

The button on the bottom of the rear-view is the "dimming button".
It dims the headlights of the car behind you.
Love the feature.

Welcome and congrats! I've never used that button, as our rearview mirror's are auto-dimming.

Yes, and if you press the button, the green light goes away and it turns the feature off.

2004 Acura TL Manual:
http://techinfo.honda.com/rjanisis/p...404MAINIDX.pdf

Here's what the manual says:
The inside mirror can automatically
darken to reduce glare. To turn on
this feature, press the button on the
bottom of the mirror. The AUTO
indicator comes on as a reminder.
When it is on, the mirror darkens
when it senses the headlights of a
vehicle behind you, then returns to
normal visibility when the lights are
gone. Press the button again to turn
off this sensing.

It's only auto dimming if you have the button pressed in, otherwise it isn't. The button is how you turn the auto dimmer on and off.

I think I'm having an issue with it...

Is it really suppose to be dimming the mirror during day time?

When I first purchased the car, the AUTO function was on all the time. Over the past 12 months or so, I've noticed that if it is on during the day it is still dimming the mirror on me which just becomes a nusance, so I turn it off, and then I'm left turning it back on during night time driving.

Anyone else able to relate to this issue?
