Rear pre-cat converter heat shield rusted off
Hey, while I was checking my rear engine mount, I noticed the heat shield was sitting funny and uneven against the pre-cat converter.
I went ahead and tried moving it - it wasn't even attached to anything and was just sitting on the pre-cat converter.
No wonder why I was getting metal rattle sounds when accelerating.
I removed it for now.
Appears to be #6 in the diagram
Question is, is it okay to leave off the heat shield?
I can imagine if I got a new heat shield, I wouldn't be able to mount it due to the corrosion.
Thanks!

if you buy both pieces of the heat shield then you would be able to because the welded nut is attached to the back half of the heat shield and the bolts only go though pre-drilled holes in the cat they dont actually attach to the cat it self...so you would need to buy #5 and #6 and the 4 bolts to be able to re attach the heat shield

I'll have a look at the condition of the part #5.
