Hey guys. Haven't posted in a long long time. Haven't modded in a long time either. College hit hard. Still only about 95k on my '05
Anyways. Friends always get mad that my rear passenger door doesn't open from the inside. Since its summer, I figured I'd open it up and see why. Turns out there is a little clip that is broken. Easy fix I think. Just don't know exactly what this part is. Here are some pictures:

So is that little green piece.. able to be purchased? This is what I found on oemacuraparts
I can't tell if #38 looks like the right piece. It almost looks like it should be the little bit that is to the left of #38, but this isn't a part for sale.
I might have to open up the other door. I guess I can just order #38 and see if it works. Just wanted to see if anyone else had similar problems. Don't even know how a thing like that can break!
I don't believe it's #38. The detached two piece green part? That's actually 1 piece, which is attached to the cable. I learned this the hard way when I opened up my Accord door panel; those pieces are pretty brittle over time, but I haven't seen those break unless someone actually opened the door panel.
The way it works is that there should be something that holds back the green part when you pull the door lever, with the clip clipping into where the green part broke off. I forgot where the attachment was, but see if you can find it attached to the door panel in the area where the green part lines up. If that's intact, you may have to replace the whole cable, which I haven't done myself, but I've heard can be a pain to change out/
Since you have the door open, why not try using some epoxy or plastic weld to make the green piece whole again? Then you could avoid buying the lock cable which I think it is part number 17 or 28 depending on side. Granted, it only five bucks...

Agree. They get really brittle. An Acura tech broke one of mine replacing a drivers door window regulator under warranty. He told me about it since they didn't have the replacement part and I had to make another future apt to fix it. The other thing that gets brittle is the clip (#38 I think) that goes around the green part of the cable to hold it to the pull handle (thing you pull to open door from inside). I broke the clip myself on the passenger front door. Zip tie took care of that. But since you broke the actual cable housing end you probably need a new cable. I'd bet you could rig up something good enough with what you have now.
Been offline for a little bit. Thanks for all the replies! I have ordered a new cable.. I'll post pics when it is installed. I *almost* taped it back together when I figured #38 wasn't the right part lol
if the door handle still works with the cable set in place and you can open and close the door I'd leave it alone..
to replace it you have to remove the glass from that door - all of it, including the wing window in the door so you can get the door latch mechanism out to replace the cable
I tried for a while when I replaced them before to do it without removing the glass and couldn't do it, glass has to come out
I just did a rear actuator and had to remove the door latch mechanism. I didn't remove the glass and have no idea why you would need to.
Keep the window all the way up and out of the way.
There is a bolt that braces the window rail - remove that.
Remove the door latch by unscrewing it and also remove the plastic nub on the door lock. It will slide all the way down to the bottom of the door, and you can pull it out and change the cable, the lock rod, and the actuator. No messing with the glass at all.
