Rattles :(
Rattles :(
I have a really annoying rattle in the plastic surrounding the shifter. I took it into Sunnyside Acura my normal dealership and the service manager told me that rattles were only covered for either 12 months or 12,000 miles. I had gotten a rattle fixed at the same dealership at 15,000miles that was fully covered a few months back. I now have 20,000 miles and they said if I wanted the rattle fixed it would be $99 an hour worth of labor.
I asked why they fixed it under warranty at 15,000miles and not 20,000miles and they said that Acura came out with a new bulletin called the 12/12 meaning rattles only covered for 12 months or 12,000miles. Does anyone know if this is true?
I couldn't find out any warranty details about rattles in my warranty manual. It just said 4yrs, 50,000 miles bumper to bumper.
Are they just scamming me?

No there is no separate warranty period on rattles. The rattles should be covered to four years or 50k whichever comes first as part of the new vehicle warranty. If you purchase an extended warranty, rattles are not covered.
Your dealer is pulling your leg. Speak the General Manager of the dealership if the service manager is not cooperating. You can try another dealer as well.
