Rattle noise on idle on 2008 Acura TL?
I hear this rattling noise when the car is in idle, I don't hear it inside my car but I can hear it loud and clear when I stand next to it, mainly the passenger side. So I looked it up on youtube and found out this one other guy was having the same problem and some one commented it was the bad timing belt tensioner. Then last week I took it to my local mechanic, and he also said the noise was from either the serpentine belt tensioner or the timing belt tensioner. My car only has about 23K miles on it. Has this happened to anybody else's TL before?
Here's the video I found, mine makes the exact same sound like that:

It is at least $1000 only if you do it through the dealership. My mechanic quoted me for $600 including parts and labor. (Parts don't include serpentine belt and the tensioner since I had it replaced two weeks ago). The dealership quoted me for $1550 for exactly the same thing...

That's my video actually. In my case, it was not the accessory belt tensioner. I had the car running without the serpentine belt, and the noise was still there. It was coming from the timing belt cover, which was changed at 100k. The invoice from Acura only showed the timing belt being replaced, nothing else.
Don't cheap out when changing the tb, make sure the pulley and tensioner are replaced.

at least open the hood so we can get a not so muted sound clip you lazy ass
There's a lot of background noise that could be the cooling fans kicking on but it sounds like it could be the tensioner for the TB or the drive belt, gotta do some more analysis.

Yeah but without the hood open all out can tell is what side it’s coming from. So all we hear is A SOUND. Can’t pinpoint anything from a video you took on your phone without the hood open.
PS pump, auto tensioner, timing belt tensioner are all possible

Tensioner rattles even on young parts
Hey there all. It is likely that your timing belt tensioner has failed even fairly young. I recently replaced the timing belt, water pump, hydraulic tensioner, and the tensioner pulley on a 2002 Acura TL 3.2L. However, after only about 2 months and 2000 miles, the brand new hydraulic tensioner had leaked oil and wasn't providing proper tension to the timing belt. Sometimes these tensioners last 200,000 miles. Sometimes it's only 2,000 miles. When you get the new part, buy the warranty.
