Rattle in glovebox area

Rattle in glovebox area
Here's the deal.
The lock that hold the glovebox got loose or something. One I hit the dash around the area of the airbag I hear a loud metallic rattle. I opened the glovebox and the part that sticks out to hold the lock of glovebox makes that noise. Obviously something inside got loose.
The sound is horrible. My friend's 95 Passat doesn't make such horrible noises.
American built quality is horrible
