Would the hesitation be occurring at the same time that the trans is dropping to a lower gear (or somewhat immediately after downshifting) ?

nope its when i press hard on the gas. im assuming its a vacuum leak but at 800miles? i was thinknig maybe its normal because the car backs off a bit with toomuch pressure or something but i guess ill take it to the dealer and check it out. i also thought it might be something with vtec?

Could be. Easy enough to test your theory. Turn the VSA off, and try it. Let us know.

Maybe you have a bad tank of gas. Could be some water in the gas. Try and fill the tank with Chevron/Shell/76 premium gas.

That is around Vtec engagement so maybe the hesitation is the switch over to vtec?

i would understand that if it was just like a second of it. but once like 5k comes around you can feel the engine gaining and pulling back
