After numerous complaints to Acura dealership about my third gear notch and spitback they have duplicated the problem and if anyone is experiencing the same or similar problem have them flush the trans a few times and put in new fluid. There was a sabotage linked back to the factory.

I brought my TL to my Acura dealer. They test drove the car and got the 3rd gear to stick/notch/small grind into 3rd gear. They are replacing the gear set right now. Should have it back tomorrow.

Fixing the gear set is not going to do anything really for u...have them check the trans fluid...in fact have them replace that fluid.

 

the sabotage is said to be in the factory in ohio...it was said that a few people were fired already...i really don't want or can go into further detail cause i don't know much and don't want to spread an untrue rumor.

Sorry, whenever I hear of sabotage I think of some stooges episode (don't know which) where Curly says "sabotagie".

Perhaps the sabotage was putting in crappy MTF at the factory cause most folks fix it with new MTF (GM or Honda). I guess it is possible that there is more than one 3rd gear issue going on but I think the root of all of them is the same. Some people call it hard to get into 3rd and others say it pops out. Pop-out is usually, but not always, because it ain't engaged all the way.... so we are back to the getting it into gear issue.

Please don't digress this thread into a which MTF or should I change my MTF thread. At the first sign of 3rd gear issues you should change it. Use Honda, GM, Redline whatever. Then determine what is required after that if the problem persists.
