I replaced the back seals on my pump in 2018? but didn't do the bottom seal (#14) and now it is leaking. Has anyone tried to replace that 0-ring with pump on the car? It is cold and I'd rather not remove the entire pump. I have an impact and plan to remove the pulley to get more room.
I can't remove the 10mm allen cover to get to the o-ring. My medium impact removes my lug nuts easily but no luck with this cover. I noticed my hex bit was beginning to cut into the allen cover so I figured I'd stop and ask for help. Is this cover reverse thread? I can't find my SM, but I think this cover was around 30 foot pounds. Any ideas.

There is not specific mention that the flow control valve cap is reverse thread in the FSM.
It looks like the best 'angle of attack' to reasonably break that valve caps 36lbf-ft loose would, unfortunately, be out of the car secured in a vice as shown?
If this valve cap were offered as a separate part from the whole PSP assembly, one could purchase it, leave the PSP in the car, and then 'sacrifice' the existing and just replace it; however, it is not.
Thanks, I saw an etcg video and the cap is normal thread (righty tighty). He used a long breaker bar. I'm not sure why it is on so tight, my mid torque wrench puts out over a hundred and it did nothing (the SM says torque is about 36). I'm currently soaking it in kroil and I think I'm just going to use my dewalt 899 tomorrow. If the cap is too damaged to put back on, I'll go to a pick and pull and get the cap or the whole pump if the cap is not sold separately.

Yes,my hope of removing the cap with the pump in the car was a non-starter. I figured I'm going to have to bleed the pump anyway so I made my life easier by removing the pump entirely from the car.
I'm currently soaking it in kroil and I think I'm just going to use my dewalt 899 tomorrow.
Tips for anyone trying this.
I put the pump in a vise and used the 899 on max. The cap came off immediately. Maybe it was the 899 or maybe putting the pump on a vise eliminated some movement that kept my smaller impact from working.
BTW, the o-ring inside the cap was still very pliable, so
I don't think that this was the source of the leak or at least not the only source. I'm pretty sure my pump bearing has lost most of the grease (see attached picture). I'll order the inner seal and a new bearing. When I rebuilt my pump years ago, I only changed the o-rings that were near the engine side of the pump as that was the side that was leaking.
