Power steering hose recall

For the ones that had it done .. how long did it take? I'm trying to schedule it into a trip and have heard 4 hours down to 1.5 hours.

Yes I know its tardy but I'm 4 hours from the nearest dealer and the car (06 )has less than 35K miles on it .. Don't drive it a lot lol .

I think it would depend on the volume of the dealer service dept.
I left the TL @ 9 am and picked it up @ 2 pm, IIRC.

The tech forgot to change the PS inlet hose O-ring(different hose, but part of the recall work), as I discovered a year or so later. Apparently that's not uncommon.

I had this recall done for my 2005 TL where they replace the HIGH pressure hose to the PS Pump which is part of the recall.

But the recall never replace PS Pump which I strongly believe they should of done as part of this recall. Recently my steering became stiff and making funny noise so took it in to my buddy at the dealership, he state, my PS PUMP crap out and replace low pressure hose along with it. Cost me about $440 including parts and one hr labor for my 2005 TL.

Just had an interesting call to the dealer re the recall ... service dept said they inspect the hose and change it "if" it looks like it needs it.

Letter says "replace " hose . No mention of the "O" ring at all.

Going to call Acura Monday for clarification.

While the letter doesn't mention the O-ring, the Safety Recall (08-016) clearly covers replacing both the hose and the O-ring and using fresh PS fluid. Print out a copy of the SR from the TSB section and take it with you or fax it to the service manager if they seem to be clueless.

The fact that a dealer service department has such a cavalier attitude about a safety recall is disturbing.

FYI, shop time is rated at 1.7-1.9 hours.

Wrong place. Use the sticky link at the top of the "Problems" forum and choose the TSB link or the direct link is below:

https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-2004-2008-93/3g-tl-technical-service-bulletins-tsbs-3g-garage-j-016-a-613659/

Follow the instructions first, then scroll down and click on the link for 08-016 to view the SR. The letter is at the end of the SR.
