Power steering flush or replace res

So I am going to fix my o ring which has been causing some problems, while I'm in there i am going to change power steering fluid.

I watched some youtube videos and they show how gunk etc builds up in the reservoir? now if i do a flush will this get that out? or how can i clean the reservoir? i don't really want to buy a new one.

You can do the flush per the manual..when you get done getting the old fluid out of the system, you can remove the larger hose to the pump and take the reservoir out of the car. Then try and get as much of the fluid out by emptying it upside down. I just did this recently and then also put a little new fluid in the reservoir and shook it around some and emptied again. Then reinstall and fill the system again per the instructions - turning the wheel lock to lock a few times to burp any air

I replaced the reservoir last time I changed PS fluid. It's pretty cheap and good insurance. I think there is a screen in the tank.

A new tank is cheap.
I paid less than $20 for a new oem one. The filter in the tank gets full of stuff you can not remove.
