Power Steering

Hi guys, I need some help. I apologize if this is in the wrong forum. If so, please move.

I've only had my TL for about 6 months. It's an 04 with 70,000 miles on it. I came home today and noticed there was a huge puddle of yellowish colored fluid on the ground on the side where my power steering is. I popped the hood and there is power steering fluid everywhere.

It appears I still have power steering when driving but the thing makes a horrendous noise when the steering wheel is turned. What's really weird is that I had the car at the Acura dealership yesterday to have them look at the tranny and they said they did a full inspection of the car and had it up on the rack and everything and that everything looked ok.

Would it be safe to assume my power steering pump is out? Any idea how much this fix would cost? Is this something I have to have a dealership do?

Sorry for all the questions, this is my first non-domestic car, so I'm really not familiar with the technical side of this car at all.

Thanks for the help/opinions in an advance.

Stephanie

I would first check if the PS cap was on tight- after they did a safety inspection and checked the fluid level they are supposed to put it back on but....

Do not drive it- check the level of the fluid- see owner manual- here is link if you dont have one https://techinfo.honda.com/rjanisis/...01_OMANUAL.asp

Call the dealer and speak with the SERVICE MANAGER ONLY, usually on Monday they hold shop meeting in the morning, so call about 730am or wait till 10am
If they left the cap off- they can tow the car for you and detail the engine compartment to clean all the oil up. Then if there is damage to the pump- its also their responsabilty- it was fine till they.....

I just checked it, the cap wasn't on that tight and the fluid level is at the bottom line. I am going to call them in the morning.

Yes, the car was taken to St. Louis Acura. They ended up replacing the o-rings on the power steering pump. Cost me $127. They also stated they couldn't find anything wrong with the transmission.
