I have been having big issues with the back half of my car lately. Sounds kind of ridiculous but its all originating from the rear.
My car shakes HORRIBLY when applying brakes over 40MPH. First thought was warped rotors. Also, I hear a pretty noticeable "clicking" sound coming from both rear wheel wells when driving. It get slightly louder as I go faster but the instant I put my foot on the brakes, it gets 10x worse. I do not even have to actually apply the brakes, just the slightest movement in the brake pedal amplifies this sound x10. Some things I have done so far:
-Replaced rear rotors and pads with StopTech drilled/slotted and StopTech street pads.
-Attempted to take everything off the rear (minus the parking brake assembly) and cleaning thoroughly just for giggles.
-Checked for any kind of debris stuck in the tires/rotors/pads. Nothing there.
-Visually checked all the bushings in the rear and I did not notice any cracks, or leaks of any kind. Looks really clean.
-Wheels are rotated and balanced as of a few weeks ago(front right is SLIGHTLY bent, but was balanced completely fine)
I have had bad wheel bearings and it just does not sound like a bad bearing to me. The sound is like when you put a sheet of paper in a shop fan. Really fast click.
Other things to note:
-My parking brake does not work. I thought I might have to replace the springs and retainers and shoes in the parking brake assembly on each side. (I think its on both sides?)
-I am lowered on Koni Yellows with H&R Springs. I do not think this is the issue. Just giving you guys the full situation.
The shaking has gone down ALOT since the replacement of the rear rotors/pads. I properly bedded them in so I believe this is not the source anymore. I still believe I have to replace the fronts just for good measure.
Does anyone else have this or had this issue before? Any feedback would be GREATLY appreciated!!
