Poor Workmanship

Ok, so after getting my 07 Type S as a replacement for my 06 TL since the car had an antifreeze leak that no one could find (think it was a cracked block), I start having problems. Soon after I got the car the paint on the rear bumper started pealing, the gasket under spoiler on the trunk started being visible and the rear end started rattling. So I stopped by the dealer when the car had something like 200 miles, he said all minor items and to make an appointment when car was ready for its first service and he would take care of everything, not to worry. The most important to me was to make sure that the rear bumber was painted properly and not to paint over the VIN tag to make the repair as least noticable as possible, for resale.

So, I just took it to the dealership and get the car back:

1) The rattling in the rear struts "is characteristic" of the Type S, baybee acura will fix, maybee not.

2) Instead of taking off the spoiler, pealing off the weatherstriping and applying new, the yahoo tries to cut it out with a razor knife cutting into the spoiler.

3) The bumper was painted fairly nicely, except that they oversprayed the VIN tag and then clearcoated it. Now you can tell that the bumper has been painted a mile away. They also did not line up the pumper under the taillight.

What should I do, I already have a call into Acura.

Nice work on a $38K car.

take it back to them and tell them to fix it to your liking, not theirs. Also I would check state laws to see if you can get a dimished value settlement from acura corperate to show the bumper was damaged from the factory with improper prep work. The rear struts have to be replaced there was an offical Bulletin released by acura, its posted here. Call acura and tell them your experience with the dealership, it is unacceptable.

I'd tell them that this is not an acceptable replacement and if they can't do better you want your money back and then go buy yourself a better car - whatever that is.

FYI - Bumper repaints are fairly common, most people won't immediatley think of a major accident. My front bumper, hood, and fenders, have small rock chips in them, but i'm only repainting the bumper - I do not want to break the factory paint, if I do I have no way of proving that it was a cosmetic repaint, not because of body damage.

I wouldn't be too concerned about the painted bumper, as long as it looks good then you should be fine as far as resale..

Have them replace the spoiler, and search re: the suspension rattle I believe it's a fairly common subject on here..
