Hello everyone I have a 2006 Acura TL automatic base model w/navigation with about 240k miles and still running strong, I love this car to death and has been a great car to my family and I. Recently about 3 weeks ago the car would not shift out of park, I have to manually override the shift solenoid with a screwdriver in order to put the car in drive. Also my brake lights still work! so I don't believe the brake light switch is defective. Another thing that happened at the same time the center console went completely blank. The clock and radio stopped working, and the anti theft light just blinks red. I checked the fuse box underneath the drivers foot panel and acc fuse #32 keeps blowing. One odd thing I also noticed before all this happened was when I locked my car I realized my radio would stay on?! So I would have to manually turn off the radio before locking the car. I did my research and it seems that people that have this problem with the shiftlock it's usually they're brake lights don't work aswell. But in my case my brake lights still work, could a defective shift solenoid cause the radio and clock to stop working?? If anyone can help it's greatly appreciated, thanks in advance

 

change the brake switch, its not failing 100% of the time but it will fail intermittent.

 

Cool thanks for the reply man, i will change the brake switch might aswell new switch won't hurt. But you think that'll fix the radio and clock issue aswell?

 

radio and clock issue is another set of problem, you will need to get your hand on a service manual with wiring diagram to see where the clock and radio tie into, fuse keep blowing because some thing cause short out and blow the fuse.

replace the brake switch first and see what other problem come up. Electrical diagnostic is time consuming since modern car now has everything tie to some system.

 

Ok will do, I'll report back once I replace the brake switch
