Unhappy Please help! Auto transmission

Have a few questions about my 2004 Acura TL. Every shift from 1-5 is rather rough, with 1-2 and 2-3 being the worst. Only 89k miles. When slapping it into manual mode, shifting between 1-2 is very quick but jerky, 2-3 however is very delayed and has substantially slower shifting time. Sometimes it will wait at 2200 rpm until i hit 1 mph faster to shift, and then when it rolls over to the next gear it is very rough. When slowing down then accelerating again, and I press on the gas to accelerate it is really slow to downshift and take off once again. Also vibrations at 45-60 mph in front, and its not the wheels or brakes etc.

Transmission fluid is not burnt smelling or dark. I have tried to provide with as much information as possible. All of the mechanics I have tried to show just say that its a sports car and is suppose to be like that but I highly disagree and want to find further information on this if anyone has experienced this.

Any help is greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

I am not a mechanic, but the TL is not a sports car and the tranny should not shift like that, check out this thread. https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-2004-2008-93/very-interesting-conversation-my-transmission-builder-tl-721508/

Very insightful, I will definitely have to look into this more! This is for 3rd and 4th gear only however?

Any other suggestions appreciated! Want to avoid a $5000 repair and it seems most dealerships don't know what they are talking about!

the switches are for the 2-3rd and 3-4th gear change. no replaceable switch for 1-2. any transmission codes being thrown? Always worthwhile doing switches and fluid change as its a bargain compared to a rebuild. there are also screens and a filter that can become clogged with clutch material that you can clean out by removing the shift selenoids etc.

No codes coming up at all. Planning on doing a transmission fluid change and the two switches replaced soon. Not sure whether to use the 3x3 flush or just do a 1x3 for now because like I said, it does have almost 90k miles and I bought it at 86k, but I don't know when they last flushed it or if they ever did. A 1x3 would be safer for now right?

I believe the transmission codes are not as easy to pull with a generic reader. see how it reacts to the 1x3

Will do, went to auto-zone today to get the materials to do the maintenance. They don't carry any of the redline racing type-f or d4 fluid so it'll be a while until I can do the change. have 3 qts of Honda z1 but as i read its not suggested by Acura owners.

Furthermore, I asked about the transmission solenoids. What came up on their computers was an A solenoid and a B solenoid, and each said requires two. Wasn't sure what this meant because I thought there was just 2 solenoids, not 4. Any info on this would be great, thanks again!

The Z-1 Fluid is Honda/Acura fluid and perfectly fine for the 1x3. its the old DW-1 to avoid.
only 2 pressure switches. You should be able to find part numbers easy here

I disagree. Z1 is the old fluid---DW-1 is the new.
With the transmission already flaring like you say, I would avoid the OEM fluid altogether and do a 3X3 with D4. You should also replace the pressure switches (part #s are in the thread posted above). Don't worry about the solenoids yet.

Yeah. You are backwards on the fluid. The DW-1 is the new stuff. The Z-1 has been discontinued.

That SUCKS!!! I had a Lexus ES300 some years back that dropped the tranny. Got it fixed and dumped it. Replaced it with another Lexus. This time an RX300. That tranny started acting funny, so I dumped it. Never again will I buy a Toyota. You sir, have crazier loyalty than I've ever seen!
