1) Check brake fluid; fill as necessary. Check the manual or with a friend who knows cars RIGHT NOW!
2) Then see a good mechanic or dealer NOW/ASAP-- the brake system should not be using much fluid at all!

No lights should be activating, nor should the brakes be activating by themselves-- I assume just the light is activating and that you did not mean to say that the brakes are slowing the car at random times-- but see a mechanic NOW as ABS or brake light = bad & dangerous.

You're talking about the warning lights on the dash and not the actual brake lights, right?

thanks for the tips .. i really appreciate that cause its starting to scare me.
i havnt really noticed the car actually slowing down a great deal ..
if you have an automatic transmission you know you that you must apply the brake to shift out of park.
and when the brake lights are on you can move the gear out of park and into gear.

Brake switch near the pedal. I've never worked on the TL specifically but they're usually designed to be "always on" unless the pedal is all the way up to press the switch to turn it off.

Sometimes there's an adjustment at the switch or the switch could be bad. I had one that was stripped and if I let off the brakes too hard the pedal would knock the switch out of it's holder and the brake lights would be stuck on.

I thought you meant brake indicator in the dash.

I second the bad brake pedal switch idea.

Do It Yourself = DIY.

Check the 3G Garage: https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=84831

I found a post with information about the switch, but not a DIY replacement thread:

thanks .. i think it may be the brake fluid because it seems to be low and the fact that i think it is slowly leaking out of the top of the brake pedal ... but when i fill the brake fluid up and if that doesnt work then i think i will take it to the dealer to replace the part .. only problem is, is that i dont know if i have warranty cause i got it for my 16th birthday and my dad bought it in the states and i live in canada .. uh oh ..

If you are losing that much brake fluid, get it fixed ASAP-- the car is not safe to drive in that condition!
I couldn't tell you what the problem is- master cylinder, ABS modulator, bad brake line, bad line connection, leaking brake piston(s), etc.- and thus can't estimate what it would cost to fix.

You can go to a brake shop or independent mechanic as well as an Acura or Honda dealer-- ask friends & family today about car mechanics they trust if you don't know any.

If the car was bought from a car dealer, there may be a 30-day warranty which will pay for the work if the 4 year/50K mile warranty has expired.

what year is the car and how many miles? You can cross the border and go to the nearest acura dealership to get it fixed if under warranty. I would aslo try going to a canadian dealer too, they shouldn't be able to tell the difference between the TL's in USA and canada that easily unless they are highly trained.
