Okay I have been wondering about this for a long time. Does anyone else have picture things in the side mirrors? It is like a cell phone bar looking thing with an X and O and something else right in the middle of EACH side mirror... What in the heck is it..? Anyone else have them?

well according to my dealer, he said that the MVID is a permanent etching of the vehicle identification number (VIN) onto all the windows and all the stealable, saleable parts of a car. The MVID process is a Passive Anti-Theft Device and it may qualify a person for an insurance premium reduction. i didn't buy it though

Hummm Never heard of that. I will ask my dealer whenever I get my car back what they are. They are dumb looking and I find myself looking at them sometimes instead of the road

Okay I'm home from the dumb dealership they didn't even know what the hell they were however one of the guys took his dry finger and rubbed it off! It WILL come off with your finger. We then found out it is from a sticker that's on there while they transport the car. Let me know if any of you can't get them off.

Its actually a barcode, its almost holographic and you can only see it in certain lighting conditions. I guess its an identification number to show its a genuine acura mirror or something to that extent but you cannot remove it or wash it, etc. Nothing serious just a way of identifying their products

I have it also. Every time I wash my car, I wipe the mirror a lot and now after three washes, the barcode is gone from the passenger side mirror and it is fading on the drivers side slowly.

Wow, speaking of revivng an old thread! And for an almost completely unrelated issue.... Use the search function. There are lots of reports of rearview mirror discoloration. And, yes, I've had this problem.
