Phone Cables/AUX Cables

Anyone have a problem with the center console snapping their phone charger cable/AUX cable in half. I have been through 4 AUX cables . Problem is the center console closes on the AUX cable and I don't want to leave it open. Same with the phone charger.

What are your guys solution? Any clever/neat way to run the cables from somewhere else? Any tips or suggestions?

I bought my car used and that cable is there. When I hook up my 4G iPod it locks it up (can't select music from the iPod) and I have NO idea how to control it through the navi, any help would be GREATLY appreciated. I'm currently on the tape setup too

I just got my TL and never even realized there was a hole to bring the cords to the top one. Slamming it down on the cords probably wasn't the best idea.

Yup I'm with you guys on this one... but my monster cable adapter doesn't sound that bad. definitely better than any transmitter I've used.

The 07-08 TLs have the groove. There is an AUX port in the bottom compartment so they put that to run wire out of.

Like someone mentioned, only the TLs that come with the aux input in the center console has the holes and cut outs to run the wires. Those would be only the 2007-2008 Base / TL-S both navi and non-navi

Some of the later 06's (like mine) have the groove as well...

Actually they are not that bad. I'm using a cassette adapter, as well, and it's pretty darn good. Just make sure you get the gold plug-in not the silver. It just might help you

If it's the iSimple aux input, it should show "ipod connected" on the audio screen, when you turn the stereo to XM. From there, you can navigate the menus of your ipod (somewhat clumsily) using the big silver tuning knob, CD/Preset #6 to select a submenu or song, and #5 to return to the previous menu. Steering wheel controls or tuning knob should skip tracks as well.
I'm sure there's a youtube video somewhere of how this works.

But don't be surprised if it just doesn't work at all. Mine randomly stopped working several times, and I would reinstall the cord into the back of the stereo, then it would work for a while. It stopped working completely now though, and hasn't been functional since November.

Well I use a tape adapter called idotconnector, which works well, has a silver aux input, it sounds decent but songs that I have bass sound bad. But the fact that the cable is all over the center console along with my car charger makes it all messy.

Thank you! I'll try it today when I leave work. I did find a video from their website but when he's navigating through the songs/artists they zoom in on the screen and you can't see what he's pressing to make it move.

have to be careful with the wire in the compartment too because the top arm rest hinge was pinching mine. I thought i permanently damaged the isimple cable.

get a monster aux cable, it has a thick rubber coating. I've shut the console on that cable at least 10 times and now probs.

...only buy from amazon or ebay though, otherwise you will get raped on the price.

Just found that groove and hole today in my car, Ive been shutting the console on top of my cable since I got the car. I love finding little stuff like this (easter eggs) after you have had your car for a while.
