Passenger Window Auto Up switch problem

Hi Guys,

I have an 06 TL, lately when i close my passenger window with the one touch Auto feature, the window starts going up, then stops, and goes down a bit. Sometimes pushing the switch up again, makes it close, other times it goes up a little and then goes down and stops. When i am not using the Auto feature, and just holding it up, it closes no problem.

Any ideas? Is my window regulator going?

thanks.

Same happened to me. As poster above stated, it's the regulator. They should have it in stock.

Too bad i am at about 59k, so 9k out of warranty. I doubt they would goodwill it. Is the regulator hard to change yourself?

I have the same problem on my '06 TL and took it to the dealer to have it looked at and they told me the same thing....window regulator needs to be replaced. Some where around $300.00 parts and labor I think. I'm obviously out of warranty also

Well, the part costs $81 on acuraoemparts.com. I guess the other $220 is the labor. Typical dealer rip off.

The same thing happened to my GF's Mazda 6. We took it to the dealer and it was as simple as resetting the auto up function by running the window all the way down and then up and then holding the button up for a few seconds. Worth a try, at least....

I've tried to reset the window switch, using instructions in the service manual. At first it seems better, but after a few times of rolling the window up and down, it goes back to how it was.

What is weird is that the manual UP and DOWN (by holding it) works just fine. So the motor is fine, its just some control logic that is fucked up. And I guess you can't only change out that part.

Sounds like the window tracks/channels need lubing, or cleaning and lubing-- that was required before any regulator was to be replaced per TSB a couple of years ago.

My car is at the dealer right now for this on the drivers side. I guess the front windows on my car were tinted before then removed. When they removed the tint they left this weird cloth material strip thing on the inside weather stripping. Theyre giving me a new motor under warranty but charging me $90 for that weather stripping since it needs to be replaced i guess. They showed me a oem strip and it did not have the weird cloth like material. Would window tinting the front windows void the warranty if this issue happens again?

that weird material is moleskin and was there to reduce the chance of the weatherstripping scratching the tint. there really is no need to replace it. It will still be on all the other windows that were tinted previously.

I've had this problem for awhile until I get it fixed if I stop it before it automatically stops I can then restart it and it will go all the way up. I think it has to do with the tension on the window as it goes up so if you get get it to start once its up even an inch mine will go the rest of the way when I restart it. Not a solution but might help in the meantime.

Ugh. I just noticed this started happening on my TL. I just had my car tinted and I'm afraid to take it in and have them replace the weather stripping that has moleskin applied to it.

I fixed my problem by replacing the window regulator. I tried to reset the window switch using the procedure outlined in the service manual and that didn't work. I also tried to check if maybe the window was catching on the weatherstripping, and it was not. So the regulator was the last thing to do, and as soon as i replaced it the window started to work fine.

It's a pretty easy DIY job to change it out. It took me about an hour to do it and the regulator is also pretty cheap being around 85 bucks on acuraoemparts.

sorry to bring up an old thread. But i have an 04 and it JUST started happening today when i tried to do "key in door" window up feature. didnt work. Then i found out my autoup driver window was not auto anymore.

Whats weird is that i got tint 2 weeks ago - and DIDNT get moleskin. Im about to redo my tint actually, AND apply moleskin. maybe i shouldnt - in case of my auto up not working anymore?

Moleskin should have nothing to do with this problem. The guy who let the dealer replace his weather stripping got royally screwed by his dealer. JUST SAY NO to any work you do not feel is appropriate to the resolve the problem.
First thing to try is to make sure the window is not binding on anything in its track. My WeatherTech visors were a bit tight and caused this safety feature to kick in until they slotted into position . The window will still stop midway if the visor has slipped out of place.
Second, try the reset procedure outlined here: https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=758028.
Finally, take it to the dealer for a diagnosis. I would wait on the tint until you know what the problem is.

Had my passenger side window "stop" four inches after it went up, then it went down again. I'm going to try to lube the tracks and if that doesn't work, will replace the regulator. This is an '04 w/98k miles.

This will be the first Honda window motor I've EVER had to replace... I think it could be the "safety feature" due to something loose in the door panel since I have heard some clunking in the door panel intermittently. I'm going to take it apart next weekend to see. My fingers are crossed that I don't need to replace the regulator since I'm going to be buying the timing belt parts soon and I JUST replaced the set of tires....

let me know what you find, mine has the exact same problem- like 20% of the time I use it it goes up like 3-4" and stops and goes back down. Sometimes I turn the window lock on and off again and it works, sometimes not. It usually works when Im driving like 15mph or more... Its weird as hell. If I cant get it up any other way it will ALWAYS go up if I use the key in the door lock trick

I thought that Honda made it so you could unroll from outside but not roll up the windows as it was a safety issue. Am I ?

Anyway, mine isn't doing any weird up/down stuff. Mine have always worked great but my battery died tonight and I had to pop the clutch to get her started (luckily on a hill). I noticed that my "auto" up/down feature doesn't work after the getting it started. Will try the reset procedure.

Took a whole 10 seconds to fix. I bet the dealer would charge AT LEAST $75.00 to fix that (plus "parts")! Good thing for us they don't do that all day long or else they'd be making $27,000/hour off us!

**Thanked**

It's not the regulator.

How do you do the key in lock door trick? I am unaware.
