passenger side cv

just got my new axles today, i compared the splines with the old ones and everything. i’m trying to get the passenger cv back onto the half shaft on my ‘07 but it’s not going in. I’m not sure if i should take a hammer to it with the hex nut on or if that would even do anything.

There is a c-ring on the splines coming out of the transmission, very small and tight fitting. You will need a thin pick to remove it. That's what is keeping the axle from going back on.
