Paint Problem

Paint Problem
I have the white pearl finish on my 2004 TL. The rear bumper panel is yellowing. The dealer is accusing me of having the panel painted by someone else, which I didn't do. I maintain it is yellowing and several people have pointed it out to me.
Anyone else having that issue?

YES. ALL of us with WDPs! This is a known problem with WDP. It happens sometimes with SSM as well. I think your dealer is yanking you. They are very familiar with this issue. Unfortunately, I'm yet to see a dealer that is willing to take responsibility for this and repaint it for free.
Go out on the lot and look at a few brand new 3G WDPs (if you can find them) and look at the bumpers. They will be discolored as well.

WDP: White Diamond Pearl & SSM: Satin Silver Metallic. I do have a 04 SSM and when installed the spoilers they matched the bumper color.

Maybe the pictures don't clearly reflect the difference between then and now, but it is huge!!

The color difference is that way on all the new ones too and the Dealers know it too. I just bought my 3G a few months ago and I wanted WDP. After looking at all 5 in the lot I just couldn't get past the bumper color difference, so I went with NBP.

Wow that's a harsh move by the dealer to make accusations on this issue.
This is a very old, known Honda/Acura problem. IMO a 35K car should have matching bumpers, ruins the overall fit and finish of the car. I've heard Honda blames it on the flex additive. However, body shops, most manufacturers do not have this problem. They are either using cheap/bad materials, or their painting methods are improper. If Honda wanted to apply the effort to fixing this problem, they would have done it years ago.
There is a difference between an acceptable bumper match and a color mismatch. This is a big down side to a few colors, pretty much have to have it refinished by a reputable shop to correct.

thankfully my 02 CL does not have this problem since both the front and rear bumper have been repainted due to accidents where the bumpers were damaged (04-03 and 05-06)
