P2647 ECU Code 2005 Acura TL

Plugged in at a local auto shop and got the code P2647 "rocker arm actuator control system on bank 1". I did some research and I know it's because vtec is not engaging. Happens at 3-4k rpms and comes and goes, any gear (6MT) and happens every time on cold start, less when warmed up 10mins.

It could be low/crappy oil, vtec solenoid needs to be cleaned, vtec oil pressure switch (many say this is not the problem and CEL doesn't go off once replaced), or vtec solenoid screen needs cleaning. What do you guys think? From searching this seems to happen fairly often with our Honda engines. Anyone else have this problem and have any solutions that an amateur could do DIY? Or should I bring it to a stealership? Any and all info appreciated.

SM lists it as "VTEC Oil Pressure Switch Circuit High Voltage".

If the oil level is fine, then the SM procedure troubleshoots for bad connections/shorts or a bad VTEC oil pressure switch.

As far as happening "fairly often", I'd tend to disagree. You are only the 4th incident that comes up in a search of the Azine 3G forum.

Okay, oil level is fine so you think I'll need to replace the pressure switch and then reset the ECU? I didn't just search on Azine for the 3G, I searched all incidents for Hondas and this code on several different forum communities, and I guess people have had this happen in the RSX and even the Element.

I know the stealer could do this if I tell them what I need done, but I'm hoping this is a job a friend of mine and I can handle. Thanks for the info.

That's probably what I would do. It's not the easiest thing to get to. Probably best if you had access to a lift.
