P1078

Hey guys,

Just started getting a CEL, which threw me one sole error code: P1078

I tried to do some research on it and all I could really ind was just that it has something to do with the "intake manifold runner control". Anyone have a clue on how to fix?

I've cleared the code once, hoping it won't come back but if it doesn't I'm praying this forum comes through for me once again

The code came on my 2005 when I was traveling at high speed and had to accelerate fast to pass, so RPM went up very quickly. Code description is related to high RPM so I thought it was one time event, perhaps valve not responding as quick as it should. Cleared code and no problem sdince

If I remember correctly, the CEL always came on whenever I went above 4000RPM or so. Initially I thought I needed to replace this: 17150-RCA-A01 as that's what the manual said. Ordered the part, then while waiting for shipping I took off the plastic engine cover to find the part on the engine to gauge how hard it would really be. Lo and behold, it was just a plug on that unit that was loose, most likely from an indie mechanic that had done a valve adjustment a few weeks prior.

You can find what I'm talking about if you google up the part number and then look at the parts diagram. Thank God delray acura accepts returns.

Thank you! I had the same issue now just on my 2005 Acura RL. I took off the engine cover and also noticed the electrical power connection for that 17150-RCA-A01 Actuator Bypass Valve wasn't connected. Connected that, put the car key nob at the second position of "ON", reset check engine light. Drove around afterwards without an issue.
