Oh Noes! Something's amiss.

A friend invited me to Kemah, Texas this Holiday weekend.
On my way to see her, something weird happened.

My exhaust tone just EXPLODED with loudness.
I knew it was either the aftermarket Jpipe or PCD's.
Maybe a gasket failed? maybe a bolt was loose

I just had to get it on video. LOL
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XUZdFIPbXXM

after about 10 mins of driving, i got bored of it and it started to give me a headache.

While visiting, I had to explain to this lovely young girl, that my car doesn't normally sound like this.

I crawled under neath my car on Monday and was surprised to see all bolts intact.
I started feeling around and felt that the Rear Pre-cat-delete was loose.

I checked on top where it mounts to the head/manifold and it was securely fastened.

I thought it had cracked some where in the middle, since I couldn't see it well.

and that leads me to, today. I was on a mission to remove the straight pipe.

Jpipe off.

rear pre cat. The top of the straight pipe where it connects to the head.
The weld has failed.

and I'm stuck here.

the o2 sensor is attached to the top of the mount.
All I need to do is unclip the stupid little harness. FUUuuuuuUUUU

I talked to Richie and He's sending me another pipe tonight!
maybe tomorrow or thursday delivery. How badass is that?

Props RV6!

Sorry to hear of your trouble, but good that it's getting taken care of quickly.

When Eric was doing his swap to the 6MT at one point he had the exhaust hung, but not connected to the J-Pipe yet. So basically like a cut-out after the J-Pipe.

He started it and it sounded AWESOME! I don't know what it would've been like driving, but just idleing, it was great.

Glad to see everything's going to get resolved right away.

And you're a funny guy. I was laughing at least half of the video with your commentary.

Oh and if your going to drive it in the mean time, make sure to put back your strut bar. I've heard of some horror stories of the front windshield cracking. Better safe than sorry.

I was dreading taking it apart. but once I got in there, it was super easy. its not like i was taking the factory FAT cats out again.

Also, it was an hour drive. I was cruising at about 70mph. Maybe I down shifted into a lower gear to pass some one, not sure as I forgot the chain of events...all I know is that when I pressed on the gas, the exhaust tone was LOUD!

Side mount has a plastic/rubber cover on top. If it's good, the cover should be in one piece.

If it's cracked, then it needs replacing.

Mine has a clean crack like someone took a dremel to it. I have yet to replace it though

It should look intact like this:

That does suck. Sounds nice though. I had a van back in high school (80's) and it had dual Cherry Bombs (Google it young readers) on it, sounded just like that. Nice.

Who is this Richie guy? I want to buy something from him just because it's rare nowadays that vendors take care of their peeps. With the exception of those around here of course.

Here bro. I went outside just to take this pic...

The circled tab is facing down while you are looking at it. Pull it away from you (towards the motor) and push the whole harness down.
