Unhappy Oh No! Major Problem w/ my TL

Alert all TL owners,
I just took my 04 TL to the dealer because I was hearing some whinning noise coming from my car. Initially I thought it was the ball bearing, so didn't really bother. But the more miles I put on my the car, the more apparent the noise became. So I took it in to the dealer for a service and they tell me that I need to get a new transmission. Fourtunately, the service department said that it wasn't my fault and that they recently fixed another 04 TL with the same problem. They concluded that it was improperly assembled at the factory. I guess the good news is that it's covered by my warranty, but the bad news is I will be without my ride. If anyone else has been having similar problems take it in immediately.

How many miles do you have on your TL? And what are the last 5 digits of your VIN? As you may know, Acura had issued a recall of the early auto 04s up to VINs in the 14,000s. Owners were sent notices to bring in their cars for an inspection. Supposedly, vehicles beyond this VIN range had the updated oil jet fix. Please keep us all updated.

The service manager at my dealership told me that ever since they put sport shift into their transmissions, Acura has had huge problems. She said however that they seem to be replacing them, even on cars that are no longer under warranty, at no cost to the consumer.

I also have a noise that sounds like bad bearings. I took my car to the dealer and had them change the the alternator and the pulley assembly and I still have the noise. I am calling them in the morning, I hope it is not the trany I don't think it is.

I have a 2005 white diamond pearl TL. I've had it about a month and I've noticied that the back bumper (especially where it meets the body over the back tires) seems to be darker than the color of the rest of the car. I was just wondering if all wdp TLs are like this or is it just me....please respond....

I've got the auto tranny. Good news is they fixed it, the bad news they had to order two trannys for it. The first one they put in there was making the same type of noise as my original, but it was making the noise at slower speeds.

At what speeds is the sound most evident. For me it was from 45 to 55 mph. From what you wrote, it sounds like the exact same thing as mine. If probably is the tranny.
I hope it's not, but it sounds like it.

Wow tranny issues on the new TL's as well as the old yikes. I was considering getting a new TL to add to the 02 TLS that I have but I honestly don't want to have to worry about tranny issues.

That's why I got the 6MT. Too many issues with Acura/Honda AT's lately. I had a '94 Legend with AT (minus sport shift) and never had any issues with the transmission. Is it true that the sport shift is causing all the problems? I've never heard the sport shift mentioned as the culprit for all the tranny problems with the new Acura's.

Damn, I knew I shoulda bought the 6 speed like I orignally wanted. Oh well, I've made my decision so there's no use in getting pissed. Hopefully I won't have any tranny problems so we'll see.
