Odd thud on initial cold shift from 1st to 2nd (5AT)

I have noticed now for the 5th or 6th time now that when I first start driving away from home in the morning that the car seems to make a thud - similar to when the front dam scrapes a steep incline. I have only noticed this in the morning - maybe because when I leave from work in the evening it's so darn noisy. I live in SoCal so the weather at night is fairly tame (66 right now at midnight). I keep my car garaged.

I don't even hear it again after the first thud. Just wondering if anybody else notices this. Is it something engaging? I don't feel any lurch or anything. I normally take about 15-40 seconds to back out of the driveway, shift into drive, and accelerate in 1st (normal D not SS) and then hear the sound.

Just curious is anybody else has noticed this. Tried searching but couldn't find any other people with this issue

EDIT: Oh, I have a new 06 5AT TL with no mods other than tint thus far. Car has about 1200 miles on it.

ABS test. Seems to happen about the same time the auto door locks engage. Normal.
