Occasional auto door locking while turning

I just picked up a 2007 TL last week, decided it was time to trade in the 93 civic, and boy what a trade, I have never owned a more fun/nice car to drive, I'm definitely an Acura fan from here on out.

I've already found this site to be the most useful Acura knowledge repository on the Internet so I'm grateful for everyone's contributions. I've scoured the Internet for an explanation of what my TL is doing, I'm thinking it might be normal, however I can't find anything about it. Occasionally, while I'm making a right turn, the doors lock and the ding will sound in the cab. I'm not even making that hard of a turn, maybe it has something to do with velocity. I'm just looking for a vote of confidence so I know this isn't a problem and it is the TLs functionality to keep me from falling out. There might be something about it online, however I don't know what to call it exactly, Googling Acura TL ding auto lock in turn doesn't bring up anything useful.

Can anyone validate this? Thank you.

Hey there,
the TL has an outolook feature that you can set; basically you can tell it to lock the doors when the car reaches certain speed; like 5mp or 10mp. after that it should not do it anymore. i don't think what you are describing is normal; but i could be wrong. Maybe you can take it back to the dealer were you bought it and have them look at it.

Yeah, that is an odd problem. First thing that came to my mind too was the auto lock at 5mph. It's possible if you make the same turn everyday near your home. However, the ding I can't explain (seatbelt?) or if this happens multiple times per drive and only on right hand turns. Are they full stop right hand turns, or slow rolling turns?

Yeah, it happens after i have been driving a while and the doors are already locked. I will call the dealer and post what they tell me.

My guess is that it's the door pin/sensor-- the movement will make the door detect that it is opening, then the door lock activates because of the auto lock @ XX mph when the sensor detects the door has "closed."

There are a few threads on the "door open" warning and interior lights activating while the car is turning, although no other posters had the auto-locking issue, IIRC. It's an easy fix, though.

Welcome to AZ.
