Help!
I tried to start my car, it turned on briefly, wouldn't kick over, but when I shut it off, I still heard something spinning under the hood, and smelled something burning, like electrical wires. Now it's completely dead, no lights nothing! And I need to get in my trunk, any suggestions or thoughts?

 

Battery because no lights.

May also be your starter .That spinning sound you heard may be the starter getting stuck

 

Emergency handle in trunk, access through back seat "passthrough".

 

What about the burning smell? And my battery is relatively new.

 

Don't overlook the + battery cable. At this age it might be corroded and no longer able to handle the juice that the starter requires.
