Unhappy Noise from power steering pump pulley

Did a search but did not find a concrete answer. The pulley for the power steering pump is making some noise. The belt needs to be replaced without a doubt, my question is more specific to the pulley.

Assuming the pulley is the issue. Can the pulley be removed and replaced without messing with the whole ps system? I think the noise is coming from just the pulley, the noise is louder when turning the steering wheel, and the noise goes away completely after a few minutes of driving.

Video of noise:

www.youtube.com/embed/STw_jBXIfsE That seemed to work for me

I don't know too much about this, but according to How to replace a power steering pump : Place the new Power Steering pump , you'll have to remove the power steering pump and other parts in order to remove the pulley.

Doesn't seem like it'd be too expensive, I saw on a BMW forum that the cost is under $200 for a BMW 325i.

That sounds like air entering the inlet side. Anywhere before the high pressure outlet and after the reservoir.
I doubt it's the pulley. Sounds like your pump is saying goodbye. I just replaced mine, it's less of a headache to buy the pump with pulley already attached as the pulley can be a pain to remove and you can warp the pulley or damage the shaft/seals.
And what kind of belt is that?! Belts are so cheap

Can't hear the video here, but definitely look forward changing the belt ASAP.

It's definitely the pump. I just replaced mine - it's not that big of a deal. My pulley came right off once I took the bolt out of the pump shaft. Flush the system when you replace it to ensure the rack gets cleaned out.

FWIW: Don't cheap out on an AutoZone or similar pump - get one from Honda. My AutoZone pump sucks balls (doesn't put out enough pressure @ idle). I'm going to exchange it with a Honda part soon.

Thanks for the replies. I'll probably start by trying to replace just the one o-ring: 91345-RDA-A01

If that doesnt take care of the issue I will do the whole rebuild https://acurazine.com/forums/problem...-scans-841134/

The car has 180k on it, cracked dash, small tear in the driver seat leather, non-working nav...but damn it drives so nice and smooth. Its hard to let go!

Sounds like the pump is sucking in air big time. Check you ps reservoir to see if there are bubbles in it. If there are your pump is def. in need of a rebuild or if you don't have the tools/feel comfortable doing that, just replace it

Replaced that single o-ring, but I'm still having noise. I'll be heading back to the acura dealer to pick up the other o-rings to do the rebuild. I'll report back once I'm done...

Nebraska....do you happen to remember which direction to turn the pulley nut to loosen? I am about to replace my pump, with a remanufacturer, but need to remove the pulley to use on the replacement pump. I am having trouble finding anything on the thread direction on that nut.
