New windshield installed... and a new issue
I finally needed to replace my windshield after an errant rock left a four foot crack across it this morning. The windshield looks to be of high quality and a direct aftermarket replacement part of the OEM version. Install looks great as well. However...
Got into the car tonight for the commute home. OMG! What a noisy ride! From the best that I can tell, there is a "squeaking" noise along the entire top of the windshield where the headliner meets the glass. With the car parked at home, I was able to replicate the squeak by pushing the headliner against the glass. So it has to be the rubber against the glass that makes enough noise that I have to practically yell to have a conversation over the phone when the car is on a relatively rough roadway. Annoying as all hell.
Now... Is this an installation issue? Should the tech have used some sort of grease on the edge of the headliner where it meets the glass to silence this, or is this the result of a poor installation that, from the surface, can't be seen? The windshield seems to be tight with no movement. Is there a quick fix to this that perhaps another owner has had success with? And is this commonplace? I've been lucky enough with windshields that I've never have had to replace one before on any of my several past cars.
Any input here would be helpful!

Thanks for the response, VQ. Actually, when the road was smooth, everything sounded like it did before the swap. The cabin wasn't any louder than what it was with the OEM glass. To be honest, without looking at the glass itself, I couldn't tell you the manufacturer's name. Whether it's the acoustical variety is even more unclear. But, like I said, the cabin was quiet on the smooth roads unless I hit small bumps. Then the squeak could be heard. It was downright unbearable on rough roads.
hmmm ... then i would say its probably a bad install, ask them to take a look at it and fix it before it rains or something and you have a leak into your car which would probably create more headaches for you
