New Tires

Before you guys flame me for not using the "Search Bar", I have. Extensively. And have not come to the conclusion that I need. I am stuck between my own experience with the Michelin Pilot AS Plus (i believe)- the tires need to be replaced at 15K. If you go and read reviews on Michelin's website this tread ware issue has happened all across the country on all different types of vehicles, With that being said, Tiretrack has the new Pilot Sport AS3 + rated as if they were made with God's nectar so I am struggling to figure out which tires I want to put on the TL which is now owned by my sister (I bought a 2014 AWD). I am considering the DWS Conti 06's but have hear the sidewalls are mushy and inhibits performance during turns, I have heard the BFGoodrich G-Force Sport Comp-2 are great but user reviews on Tiretrack are terrible. Personally, whenever I am stuck in these types of situations (website reviews vs. user reviews) I go with what users are saying because their opinion is non-biased.

Has anyone had the new Pilot AS3 +'s on a TL for more than 10-15K miles and can tell me if the tire is holding up? Michelin has offered a 60%( should be 100% since they discontinued their POS sport AS sport tire) prorated warranty deal since my AS +'s are zapped at 15K miles but I don't want to just put another POS tire on the car if I don't have to. My sister drives spirited enough that I want the performance in all conditions along with tread life if at all possible.

the problem is; tires are subjective.
or rather, people's opinion of tires are subjective.
THAT's whats holding you back....

if you like a certain tire, keep buying the same ones!!
unfortunately, the only way to find out if you personally would like a tire is to buy a set.
it's an expensive experiment, but until then...you will get the run-around from different people giving you different reviews on tires

I understand your point and agree with you. Although, what is not subjective is wether people have had tread wear issues with the new Pilot AS3 +'s. That is truly what I am after. I loved the AS 2's except for the fact that they lasted only 15K.

BTW I am not sure why this is in 3G problems and fixes. It should be in Tires Wheels and Suspensions.

Michelin Tires are like Starbucks coffee, overrated and overpriced. I had the original A/S 3's and had to be pushed / pulled out of very light snow conditions even with my 6MT's limited slip differential, though I did get about 40K out of them and they were great for the other three seasons. Michelin claims they're only 28% better snow traction than the original A/S 3's. Not good enough as far as I'm concerned !

Try the BF Goodrich g-Force COMP-2 A/S's. Their ratings on Tirerack are certainly good enough for me and now that I'm on my 2nd winter on them, I'd still buy them again in a heartbeat. And you'll save a bundle over the Michelins to boot!

Same with their Winter X-ICE series, overrated.

You heard ?!?!?!? Better go and read them for yourself. Take the word of this old time 3G TLer; I swear by them and I'd buy them again in a heartbeat!

Comparing apples to oranges aren't we?
DWS 06-All Season
G-Force Sport Comp 2-Summer Tire
The G-Force Comp 2-All Season

For winter I'm liking my General Altimax setup.
For summer I finally got a set of Barum Bravuris 3HM (hard to get, made in europe and also made by continental). 3 times better than the Goodyear Eagle F1s that I ran for 2 years.
