New brake pads for the 6mt
I did the front brakes on my 2005 6MT with 32,800 miles on it last weekend.
The original pads were at about 40%.
I used the EBC ultimax pads, which cost about $60.00 on line someplace...
Easy job, remove one pin, remove clip, remove other pin, push pads back with a pair of screwdrivers letting the old fluid drain into a jar, pull out old pads, transfer backing shims after greasing both sides with high temp disk brake grease, put new pads in, install pins and clip, bleed a cup of new fluid through.
I also rotated the tires since I had the jacks out.
The brakes seem quiet and smooth, and they stop real well, I expect much less dust on the rims.
The ultimax pads seemed very high quality, and have a 'special' bedding in coating on them.
The only thing they dont have is the tabs that hit the rotors to let you know the pads are worn down, but I keep an eye on my cars, so its not an issue for me.
I had thought pads for the brembo setup were going to be expensive, but $60.00 is ok in my book.
I also did an oil change, mobil 1 5w20, mobil 1 filter, my first synthetic oil change on the TL.
Tonight I dropped it off for the power steering hose recall, although my hose looks fine.
So far, zero problems with the car since new, but its never been back to the dealers or in any shops, hope they dont screw anything up doing the recall.

better the recall fix, than the underhood fire that can result

I picked the car up last night, nice new hose, with all kinds of shields on it, nothing seems screwed up, but I should check bolts and so on, not sure what they did to get at the hose.
It looks easy to me, but maybe they lower the sub frame to get at something.
I did not look close, but it seems like you could do the job without disturbing anything.
It sure looks easier than doing the job on my 1999 rav4!
