Need help identifying what this part does

Over the weekend I was installing my USA-Spec BT45-Hon3. When pulling off the panel below the steering wheel, I accidentally snapped a harness that plugs into this hole.

Obviously today being hot, my A/C was not pushing as cold as it should. Does this affect the AC? I put in back in place with tape (ghetto, I know lol). But it seems like this can possibly be affecting my AC. So I wanted to clarify what does it do and if I need to replace, if anyone can help with a part#.

Thanks,

its a 2nd temp sensor that send information back to the car computer to tell the AC when to slow down and when to pick back up.

So do you think its safe to say its snapped in a spot to make it in-operable?

your A/C just won't able to keep up with the condition eg. might be colder or warmer. There are two temp sensor total the other one is locate on top of the dash near the front windshield. You can buy a new panel. Did you snap the clip or the senor from the harness? Any way this is the diagram you will need either #16 or #14.

I assume the sensor itself. A/C was ice cold before. This morning it was blowing ice cold again. Will see how it reads again as outside heats up again. The sensor is easy to change, will call the dealership after I test it again.

I was able to find the part from a website for $30, but I prefer to go OEM.

Sorry truonghthe you get lot's right but I think you are off on this one...
I think it's #3 in this image. "SENSOR ASSY., IN CAR"

OP: It lists for around $35 USD. You can also get same OEM part on line from dealers for about $25USD but shipping will eat up most of the savings. My guess is dealer will need to order it for you.

What exactly did you break? The wiring connector or the vent tube connector? If the vent tube I'd think you can just repair that yourself as it's only a mechanical connection. (glue, tape, zip-ties, etc.)

Local dealership has it. $50cdn. Man do we get ripped off on parts. For my Maxima, a MAF sensor was $500!!! I ordered them from a Nissan dealership in the States for $120US, so still saved after duties and shipping. But will have to bit the bullet on this one.

The red line is where it broke off

$50CDN!! Well, if it looks like the sensor or wiring isn't mangled then I definitely vote on repair. It's not like the part is under a whole lot of mechanical stress. I'd stay away from tape of you can because it tends to get gooey but it may just be the easiest thing to use.

Here's how to test for an 05 (and probably all years) of you have an ohm meter. I wouldn't sweat too much about accuracy. A) you want to make sure it's not open/short circuit and B) you just probably need to be close to the curve at 1 or 2 temps and you are fine.
