I got up and go out to go to work and i can see that my calipers have some paint rubbed off them. Now i notice that my wheel might be just barely touching. This is weird because it wasn't doing this before, and i've got a 5mm shim in there already. Anyone got a clue what i can do to fix?

i don't know, i dont see how it could have happened, never hit a pot hole.

 

If its both then I would bet against a bent rim. Most likely your rims are some type of alluminum alloy and as you know they can get bent. Sooo.... this also means that on some level the material has some flexible properties. Not a lot but enough that during cornering that if you have next to zero clearance between your caliper and wheel spokes, the tiny bit of flex can cause the spokes to graze the calipers. I have seen this before. Time for larger spacers, different wheels, or smaller calipers lol.
