Navigation Error Message

I turned on the car tonight and got the following message:

DVD Disc reading error
please consult your dealer

I've never taken the disc out before so I don't think it's the disc. I took it out anyways to check and there were no scratches or lint at all. I inserted the disc back but got the same message.

Anyone else run into this? Any ideas?

Navigation Error Message

I had the same issue with my '07 TL type S. After fighting with the dealership for a year because they kept telling me that I scratched the disc they ended saying that there was a service bulletin that some of the navigation disc drives are scratching the discs. Take out your disc and look at it....Does it have a perfect ring scratch on the disc? If so take it to the dealership to get it replaced under warranty if it's still under warranty. Hope this info helps...GOOD LUCK!

Thanks knight...I looked at the disc when it happened but it seemed like it was brand new. I'll double check. May try to borrow a disc that works and put it in mine to see if it's in fact the disc. If not, I'm SOL because the dealer told me if it's the unit, I might as well go buy a Garmin since it was close to $3k to replace the unit.

if it is the unit, you can send it to alpine and they will fix it for around 150-200 dollars.
