Navi clearing its memory on its own or resetting?
Navi clearing its memory on its own or resetting?
So I have had this happen twice to me now.
I get in the car, start it. The Acura picture shows on the navi, than it goes black for longer than normal and than boots again.
At that point it has done the same as doing clear memory, meaning it erases all address saves in my address book and my home address.
It did this once about a month ago. Thought ahh, maybe just a one time thing. So after it did that I entered a few more addresses in and than decided to do a memory clear myself manually just to make sure it was really cleared to try to avoid the problem again.
Anyway had all my stuff back in it and today after I got some gas, I turned on the car and the darn thing did it again. Acura logo, black screen for about 15-20 sec, than acura logo and than normal boot, and of course everything saved was gone again.
Any ideas?
Its not the battery or anything and in fact the info on the navi is saved in memory that does not reset upon power loss.
is my navi ECU going bad? I ran all the built in diags it has and they pass. Both memory's pass, and so does everything else.
I have the navi 2 tv box thing but have had that for 3 years and no issues, and that only splits the video that I am aware so makes me think my navi ECU is going poops.
Everything works fine its just now in about 45 days it has done this twice to me.
I dont know what to do because if I tell the dealer they wont do anything I am sure because it wont be reproducable. It just happens on its own and only ever done it while starting my car and only twice ever. Plus if i tell dealer I need to take my navi2tv thing out so they dont cry about it but no point telling them if it dont have a problem they can see as they wont replace it...
Tried to search but cant find anyone who had this ever.
My car is Acura TL 2006, w/ 3.8 navi disk (I update it about once a year so always latest maps)

I take this as I am the first to have this problem
I guess I am SOL until it gets worse so the dealer can see something.
My guess is the DVD unit in the trunk is going bad.
I do live in FL and it gets hella hot here.... Not to mention the black car dont stay cool itself, lol.
Looks nice though.
Well... Should say it use too before the paint job on the driver door got done from a hit and run and it looks shitty and I gave up getting it fixed.
But wet it looks great
haha

its the navi drive, if you are under warranty, take it to courtesy acura. Talk to Angela Disco in service, request that Shawn or skippy work on your car. These guys are some of the best tech's they have.
If you are out of warranty, you can pay 185 dollars to alpine and they will fix your dvd drive for your.

She actually is my service rep.
I miss my old one though, but hes gone.
Anyway I have not had problems with them really taking care of me, the problem is if its not reproducable how can I expect them to fix it?
The other problem is I have the tvnavi2go thing and I know I need to remove that prior to letting them look at it, but its a pain to get to that plug and I dont want to be putting it on and off.
IF it was flat dead than its simple, I know they would replace it so i can remove the plugs, but it has only done this to me two times now.
Its like taking them your car and saying it runs funny, but the dang car runs great the entire time they have it lol.
Thats why I am at a loss.
