mystery oil leak

Over the last year the engine oil light came on 3 separate occassions. I checked my oil the first time and the oil was definetly low, barely a trace on the end of the dip stick. I added oil to bring it back up to level. The second and third time it came on, I was near ready for an oil change and was near my oil change shop so I just stopped in. Both times I forgot to ask about the oil level but in neither case did they tell me it was low. Now, I don't think they check the oil level before they drain and probably don't pay much attention after they pull the plug, but they would have definetly noticed if little to no oil came out. Considering the first incident, I have to believe the oil was truly low in the other 2 cases to trigger the oil light. However, there are no oil spots in the driveway or the garage, on the under carriage, and there is certainly no blue smoke or any smoke for that matter. So where is the oil going? I have nearly 100k miles and have routinely changed the oil since I bought my TL.

if there's no visible leak from the pan or the drain plug.. I can't think of another culprit.. if the TL was burning oil you would know for sure. I'd definitely keep your eye on the issue.
Oh.. check the oil filter.. sometimes it doesn't seal properly.

oil light comes on when there is no pressure or low pressure in they oil system. I'd advise you to check your oil filter and as well to do a compression check to make sure the rings aren't toast.
