My car is screwed!

My car is pissing me off. I had an issue about two weeks ago when car would hit vtec and basically decelerate. once I ran that tank of gas out, it was okay but still never felt as strong as before.( Just thought I was used to the power). any way I fille up my tank last night and it was fine until this morning driving on the highway when it starts to severally hesitate while flashing the CEL. the hesitation is so bad that it wont excelerate at all. It starts to buck and it even stalled once while moving. I have no clue what the hell is wrong with this thing. I called the dealer and they said they have a few cars in there with the same problem and dont know what it is. They cant even take me for an appointment until next wednesday. what happens if me car has something serious wrong and it blows the motor. Then what, its my fault these people replaced ethanol with mtbe and its not working like they thought. This is BULL SH_T. My car is barely drivable and I afraid to drive it. WAYNE acura wont even give me a car until next wednesday. does any one else have this problem. I think its the new fuel mixture!

You might be right. Sounds like bad gas. Have you noticed any pinging? Sounds like too low of an octane gasoline not giving a good combustion in the chamber and the ecu notices and probably declerates the car as a preventive measure.

sorry to hear that. it sounds like something only dealer can address (maybe). i am a cheap gas seeker and have no problems so far (God bless). i really don't think it's just gas. have you tried to use some gas cleaner/detergent to see if it makes a difference? i am a loyal redline guy.....

clogged gas filter? bad fuel pump (very possible). let us know.

Don't you guys up there have that E85 stuff? Maybe that's it (although it's supposed to be safe).

No, we only have 10% ethanol in our gasoline. E85 is 85% ethanol i beleive. this is very frustrating

It's ridiculous the dealer can't get you in for that long. If you don't have any other dealers in the area, check with the regional rep and see if they'll authorize warranty work at an independent shop that specializes in Acura and Honda. He should either give you the authorization or get you into your local dealer ASAP.

Good luck!

Do you always buy from the same gas station? Which station did you get gas from last?

I got it from a sunoco. When I got to my car it started real ruff at like 2pm. i let it idle and it began to get al ittle better. I went to the dealer at like 4 today and flipped out. they took the scanner to my car to run a diagnostics check. It came up as a misfire in all of my cylinders. They did all the proper checks on the car(spark Plugs, compression tests, injector test, and vaccum leak test. This took about 2 hrs)Everything was fine. I then went to straus auto and put LUCAS FUEL SYSTEM CLEANER in the and then it was fine. It has been fine since and I beleive it was just water in my gas and I probably set the CEL from the Cylinders missfiring so many times. I asked if misfirring could have harmed anything. they told me that if the sparkplug were still okay then the internals should be okay but to just take it easy for a while. I heard HESS is one of the better ones with ethanol beleive it or not. I am going to try this next and see what happens!

You cant drive a modern car with a flashing cel, that will melt the cats down and plug up the exhaust in no time.
Any time you get a misfire (loss of power/shaking) you need to stop and have the car towed to the dealer, otherwise, bad things can happen.

Acura said these misfires were mostly due to water in the Gas! I will never buy Sunoco again. Sunoco is supposed to have a quality gas but every time I have gotten it lately, its mess's up my car! They told me that my car will be fine now but to just watch what gas i put in it! I highly recommend taht LUCAS Product. It comes in a Clear bottle and really made my car run smoother than it has in a while. i usely put injectory cleaner in religously but this stuff is far better!

Next time you have that situation of getting a loaner car, speak with Mike the service manager. Mike is about making customers happy and keeping his numbers up in his service dept. I've never had to wait for a loaner car at Open Road Acura in Wanyne before and if they didn't have loaner cars, Enterprise rental car assisted in making the customer happy with one of there cars on Open Road. Speak with Mike directlly.

Did you buy from the same Sunoco gas station?

If so, it could be that the station's underground tank have a leak, or they are con artistis, mixing in water with the gas.

I haven't been on here for awhile. I see the problem returned that sucks. Might want to keep a couple bottles of octane booster in the car just in case it happens again.
