Musty A/C smell. Want to spray coils, but where?

I have some Nu-Calgon Evap Coil cleaner, And I want to spray it to get rid of a musty smell in my 04 TL. Where am I supposed to spray it to get the best effect? Thanks...

Check out this thread about spraying Lysol in the a/c vents, and here's a link to the picture that was posted:

BG makes a good product for this in one time cans my local acura dealer sells. Its called frigi-fresh and kills bacteria and odors throughout the ac system. You spray it in the air intake for the ac at the cowl section below the windshield wipers.

What about down the chute where the cabin air filter goes? Take it out and spray with the fan on low?

I was wondering the same thing, actually. Should I be spraying down both vents that are up near the windshield wipers?

Also, (and I know this question has probably been asked 1,574,308 times) - how do I remove the covers in the engine compartment? I saw an "Up/Down" slot, but I couldn't see what went down there.

żGot "Haven't Spent Much Time in the Engine Compartment" Jazz?

There are two issues with A/C odor. 1) Condensation that collects within the ductwork of your car remains in place, perhaps because you live in a humid environment? Any dust which also collects lines the surface of the ductwork and creates a surface area to which moisture adheres to. If you also live and drive where there's lots of road dust, this dust can line the ductwork of your car. You might want to change your cabin air filter.
2) During the last five or six minutes of my car's operation, I DISENGAGE the compressor, still allowing the vent fan to blow air, but the air is no longer cooled. THE CAR WILL GET WARMER...but I've found that I never get A/C mildew ON ANY CAR I've owned.

We have a home in Florida...and all of our neighbors have A/C musty mildew smell in their cars ventilation systems (that are older than three or four years). None of these people turn off the A/C compressor during the last four or five minutes of car operation.

Caveat: sometimes, when you do shut off the A/C compressor, a large about of moisture will build on the lower portions of the inside of the windshield. This will fog up your inside windshield. This could especially occur if your inside windshield has ANY film on it.

THE LYSOL SPRAY IN THE A/C AIR INTAKE IS A GREAT SOLUTION.

GOOD LUCK!
