Motor mounts covered under extended warranty?

Hi,

I have 06 Acura 6sp with around 97K miles. I replaced my tires and had alignment done and noticed that my car drifts considerably to the right. I brought it back to Firestone. They discovered that the front and right side mounts were shot. 1st question-Are these covered under extended warranty (I bought the warranty from Acura)? 2nd-If not, how much $$$ is a reasonable quote? 3rd-Are the mounts sold separately or all together?

I'm in Atlanta so if anybody has any experiences dealing with the local dealers regarding this issue, greatly appreciate any feedback.

Thanks

Update-The local dealer insists that its an alignment issue and will not look at anything unless I pay for alignment first. So I went back to Firestone and explained them the situation, they were nice enough to let me watched them perform the alignment again step by step. Everything was in spec but as soon as you tap the gas, the car veers to the right dramatically. Even the mechanic was surprise on how severe the drift was.

Is this normal for the dealer to go this route or is this service adviser just a HUGE a hole?

Thanks

The mounts should be covered under the extended warranty, if it's the mounts. When did you first notice the pulling, or has it be doing that since you've owned the car? What's the toe setting?

The car always pulled a little to the right but it was a very gradual thing. Just recently (several months ago) it started to pull very noticeably and sharply. I just thought I needed an alignment, new tires and that would solve the issue. So after getting the new tires and alignment done, I realized very quickly something wasn't right. The front L/R toe are .03 and .01

Super Bowl over, so does the car pull or drift when on a level road maintaining speed, not accelerating? Does it only pull right when accelerating?

Update 2-The car naturally wants to drift right but its very subtle and takes awhile. However, if you add gas, it DEFINITELY pulls hard right.....I took my car to another dealership and they did alignment, swapped out wheels with another car, and they said the pull decreased. The new tires are Bridgestone 960AS. These are my 2nd set of tires and I never had any issues with them. Could it just be bad tires? Thanks

With the unequal shafts, there is going to be a pull to the right when under heavy acceleration, to what degree, maybe the guys with the 6M/T will be able to relate. The toe is correct, and if it is stable on a flat road and does drift, adding gas will move it right normally.

Update 3. As I mentioned yesterday, the dealer swapped out my wheels/tires for another set and I went there this morning and drove it with the tech in the car. It seems like the pull decreased even under power. So could it have just been the tires? Any one else experience it with the 960s? Firestone is ordering me a new set of tires. Should I be on the lookout for anything else? Thanks for all the input!

I live in Atlanta, too. If you are going to go dealership, check out the Acura Dealership on Peachtree-Industrial near I-285. They seem to have a great relationship with Acura Client Care, and they always call them right after verifying my extended warranty. I'm new here, and I'm not sure I can put names in I had a 03 CL-S, and now have a 07 TL-S, and they do great work, and go above and beyond to save you money. Most of the managers will take you aside and refer cheaper places for certain work. Over the years between the two cars, I've gone to them for: broken motor mount, replaced transmission and computer, alignment issues, mirror issues, bluetooth and stereo problems/replacement, accident body repair, large maintenance, you name it! and even though I didn't buy either of my cars from them, they've given me mats, cut extra keys, etc for free. They are the best of the Dealerships in ATL IMO. High Turnover though, so don't get too used to any service manager.
